FEDERAL government has unveiled a three year programme of action on restructuring and modernization of the Nigerian Postal Services, in Abuja.
The federal agency also used the occasion to launch NIPOST Strategic Plan document for implementation of Nipost Vision 2020. Unveiling the plan, minister of communications, Adebayo Shittu, said it will enhance efforts of government to deliver a Nipost that will be relevant and contribute meaningfully to the economy. He said government approved the modernization plan considering the viability of Nipost when restructured to regain all the lost gains. Shittu said, “We must strive to regain what we lost in Nipost.
We have a leadership in place in Nipost that we are very confident has the capacity to deliver on this plan. The present administration is committed to transforming the Nipost from a mere delivery outlet to a wholesale organization that will drive various sectors of our economy.
If these plans are implemented, we will be able to deliver to Nigerians, tremendous benefits from this restructuring plan.” Under the three year plan, Nipost would be unbundled into six subsidiaries: Nipost Digital Financial Services Limited; Postbank; Nipost Property and Development Company Limited; Nipost Transport and Logistics Limited; Nipost Merchandising Limited; e-Commerce; Nipost General Services Support Limited; and e-Government.
