The National Industrial Court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital has sentenced the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, Dr. Liasu Ahmed to one month imprisonment over disobedient to court order.

The CMD flouted the order of the court to pay the salary of the resident doctors of the hospital.

Dr Ahmed, who was dragged to court by the Association of Residents Doctors, FMC Owo chapter, over his alleged refusal to pay two months being owed them, was ordered by the court to pay one of the two months salaries but he ignored the court order.

The embattled CMD was said to have refused to pay the doctors following an order of no-work-no-pay which he effected on the doctors of the federal government-owned hospital.

DAILYPOST gathered that the CMD paid the salaries of the doctors during the period they were on strike for three months in 2016 but after the doctors returned to work in October 2016, Dr. Ahmed issued a circular that the doctors should not be paid since they had been paid when they were on strike.

He said they must work for the money they collected during the strike.

Delivering her ruling, Justice Oyejoju Oyewumi, however, ordered the embattled CMD to pay the doctors on or before close of work on Monday or go to jail for one month.
