Korean govt appoints Nigerian head of African Committee


The Government of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea has appointed the National Chairman of the Peoples Progressive Party, Dr. Damian Ogbonna as the Chairman of the African Committee for Friendship and Solidarity with the Korean People. This was contained in statement issued by the national secretariat of PPP in Abuja.
According to the secretariat, the appointment was conveyed to Dr. Ogbonna at a ceremony held at the
Korean Embassy in Abuja on Friday, The letter of appointment was presented to Dr. Ogbonna by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea,Jong Yong Chol on behalf of the government of his country.
The party secretariat quoting the letter said: “I, upon authorisation of the government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, would like to inform that Mr. Damian Uzoma Ogbonna,
the National Chairman of Peoples Progressive Party of Nigeria was appointed as the Chairman of African Committee for friendship and solidarity with the Korean People”.
Accordingly, the statement explained further that it was in recognition of the great contributions made by the PPP Chairman towards the development of
friendly relations between the Workers’ Party of Korea and the Peoples Progressive Party of Nigeria; and expressed his conviction that, as
Chairman of the continental committee, Dr. Ogbonna would further contribute to the development and nurturing of friendship and solidarity between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and African countries.
