The atmosphere last Friday at the Four Points by Sheraton in Victoria Island, Lagos, was convivial as it was stimulating; there were banters here and guffaws there, as Film and television stakeholders and enthusiasts gathered to herald the launch of Africa Magic’s new telenovela, ‘Hush.’
The event which was hosted by ace compere and TV personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, had in attendance some of the lead ing lights in Nollywood, including cast members of the new show: Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Thelma Okoduwa, Meg Otanwa and Rotimi Adelegan amongst others. Guests were treated to a screener of the telenovela, with individual cast and crew members discussing their experience with ‘Hush’ and what viewers should expect. Speaking at the launch, the Regional Director, M-Net West Africa, Wangi Mba- Uzoukwu said: “’Hush’ is our exciting new telenovela which promises a lot of excitement, intrigue, suspense and romance.
The show features a blend of Nollywood veterans and exciting new talents, and promises to be an exciting watch for our viewers across Africa. Many of our viewers remember our last telenovela, ‘Hotel Majestic’, and all the excitement it brought to their screens – ‘Hush’ promises to exceed that level of excitement and we urge viewers to tune in every weekdays at 8pm (Nigerian time).”
‘Hush’, which premiered on Monday, air on Africa Magic Showcase (DStv channel 151) weeknights at 9pm, is a tale of fashion, politics and ambition which follows different members of high society as they collide. The story of Hush revolves around Bem and Arinola, power-players in fashion and politics respectively.
Bem, played by Richard Mofe- Damijo, is one of Africa’s biggest designers based in Lagos State, Nigeria, while Arinola, played by Thelma Okoduwa, is one of the state’s fastest rising politicians. It also features veteran Nollywood actor, Olu Jacobs, Baj Adebule, Rotimi Adelegan and Meg Otanwa.
